Dr Rilling what the ATLAS project is about?

ATLAS is a Horizon 2020 project, and its objective is the development of an open digital Interoperability Network service for agricultural applications and build up a sustainable ecosystem for innovative data-driven agriculture using the Network. The Interoperability Network will allow the flexible combination of agricultural machinery, sensor systems and data analysis tools to overcome the problem of lacking interoperability and will enable farmers to increase their productivity in a sustainable way by making use of the most advanced digital technology and data. ATLAS wants to make it easier for farmers to exchange data between different systems.

What are the project achievements so far?

Within the last 36 months, the technological foundation of the ATLAS Interoperabiliy network has been developed. The central components ATLAS Registry and Participants Portal have been deployed and are operational since mid-2021. The development of the ATLAS Equipment Centre and the ATLAS AppEngine has been advanced to a state that first technology demonstrations, i.e. the creation of an application map, sending the map as task data to a machine and transferring the "as-applied" data back to the Equipment Centre through the AppEngine, can be conducted. Furthermore, a multitude of different services are available within the ATLAS Registry.

What are the next steps?

The focus of the upcoming months is on the dissemination and exploitation of the project results which have been generated so far by the consortium. A tailored dissemination of the results to the main target group, i.e., companies providing digital solutions for agriculture, is the key to make the benefits of the ATLAS technology known to a broad stakeholder group. For this, live demonstrations showing digital workflows with interoperable analysis and farm management software, sensor-networks, robots and machines will be organized on the ATLAS Innovation Hubs.
