Monitoring vineyards by robots

Controlling the status of the vineyard is an important and critical task. This monitoring influences in many decisions of the productive cycle. Thus, having a complete view of the crop, and being able to acquire this picture as frequent as possible will improve the accuracy on production estimation.

An automated data capture system can generate huge datasets that can be incorporated to a system to increase the accuracy of its predictions. Thus, an autonomous ground vehicle equipped with this acquisition system can patrol across the vineyard taking data of each plant. Then, using algorithms of image-analysis, useful characteristics can be extracted in order to complement the production estimation software.
