An agROBOfood webinar about Dutch Soft Robotic technologies and it’s
applications in Agro Food industries in collaboration with 4 Dutch Technical
Universities and Hollands Robotics.
In the agri-food domain, fast and effective manipulation of very delicate
products is a key issue that has not received much attention yet. In this
webinar you will be informed about the design of flexible gripping of bio
inspired soft materials. In the design it is necessary to consider natural
variability in food product shape and size, and the challenges and possibilities
for real-life applications in the agri-food market. Use cases are discussed from:
modern manufacturing systems, health care and soft (cooperative) robots for
agriculture in relation to the agri-food domain.
Soft gripping and bioinspired manipulation are ideal robotic solutions for pick-and-
place applications in the food industry, but also in manufacturing and packaging.
However, the use of grippers in the agri-food industry poses a number of challenges.
Crops, vegetables or fruit all have different sizes, shapes, ripeness, colours, etc.
Working conditions are harsh, contamination risks are high and a the demand for
extreme performance is evident (short cycle-times, extensive uptime, robustness, cleanability, fast changeovers and cost-price). These are all aspects that the gripper must be able to deal with.
4 Dutch Technical Universities take you through the trends, developments,
challenges and applications of using flexible grippers for different products, shapes
and materials based on nature!
The four universities of technology in the Netherlands – Delft University of
Technology (TUD), the University of Twente (UT), Eindhoven University of
Technology (TU/e) and the University of Wageningen (WUR) – have joined forces in
the 4TU Federation. This federation maximizes innovation by combining and
concentrating the strengths of all four universities in research, education and
knowledge transfer.
